Doyle,

I just use a layer mask and paint black on the mask with a soft 30% opacity brush to reveal the details lost in the blowout. It is a great technique to repair blownout spots.

Awesome Pat - What was the blending mode? I've done something like this to save poorly exposed shots by saving Raw images into two images and merging . . . but never came up with a workflow process . . . I may have to check it out again. I never thought to bring out elements like you've done here . . . only to rescue a shot. This gives me lots of ideas!!
