Absolutely beautiful. It's soft where it should be, sharp where it needs it. It's like a dream world.

Piers, Flaming Pear make the filter. You can download from their website and trial it for 30 days.

Nice work with that little camera! I too would have preferred more contrast to darken and slightly de-emphasize the blurred foreground and bring out the central subject a bit more. Very well done though and congrats on EC!

How cool is this? A holga and a holga-wannabe next to each other! Again, this turned out to be a great experiment, you picked the right photo to apply the filter to. I'd like to see more of these. I know that you think it's cheating but hey, whatever gets the results (we both know that from being designers, if some here only knew the manipulations we had to do to get the jobs). Nice to see you on the same page!

Just wanted to tell everyone again that this isnt a holga shot - its from my sony digital, and I used a photoshop filter called 'Melancholytron' which simulates the holga 'look'.

At first glance I thought it needed more contrast. But that's not the point. They're delicate flowers and the photograph makes them 'feel' delicate. Am also impressed with the large depth of field...Excellent.
Cheers,
Daz T.

Congratulations Heather! It's a wonderful piece - the flower petals look like frosted glass. The composition is right on the money and the square crop works nicely. A well deserved EC! :-)

Kim Culbert   {K:37070} 5/9/2003
The B&W is my fave... such delicate light, soft colour tones and just the right amount of "holga-i-zing"
I hope this is printed and on your wall!

I have rated also the color one, but I prefer the post-processing on this B/W

Wow, caught already!
Sharp eye Aurore. Betsy mentioned a photoshop 'holgarizing' plugin in the forums ("plastic cameras cliched?"), so I thought I'd check it out. I posted this in colour originally (http://www.usefilm.com/showphoto.php?id=107483), & wondered if it would get a different response like this.

I won't tell how you did this if you don't, it's our little secret (unless your raters read the forums). Interesting, I may try some of the other flamingpear offerings. -- Betsy

Interesting Holga macro.

Aurore Lynch   {K:1687} 5/1/2003
I like this a lot. Though I usually don't like such low contrast subjects, I think the contrast works just the way it is. I only wish the tree hadn't been in the background... it disrupts the flow of texture in my eyes. Maybe you could have made your whites just a tinny bit brighter... Did you crop this? Or does your Holga just not cause much vignetting? And, wait... how'd you get it to focus so close with such a small DOF at f/8? Now I'm confused... you'll have to tell me how you did this...?

Very nice blurring around the edges. Could use a little more contrast to make the flowers stand out.
