Hi J-E!

Uhhhhh . . . the ducks look painted my friend. Not sure what happened but there is a total 'unreal' feel to this image. Lovely, yes. But it IS off a tad . . . and I'm telling you this as a friend. Placement (composition) is great . . . but . . . uhhhh . . . have I told you how nice you look today?? ;)

Regards,
Doyle I <~~~~~

appart from the comments made about the grain, something tells me this isn't real, more like a composite shot.
reasons
1. the grain of the birds are not shared with the BG.
2. the female ducks beak is blurred before it blends into the wing of the male.
3. one duck would not fly that close to the butt of another bird, the size of the female is wrong, she is to big for her position. she should be smaller to give the illusion that she is further off to his left.
two examples of mine of composite shots

The crop is great. So is the composition. Even though this might be an extreme enlargement, it works for this image. It gives it a painterly or pastel like quality. This is art. Very nice.

Excellent inflight capture, John-Eric! Very nice colours and a great sky behind them.

As a CC photo, I'd say that one might crop a bit and increase contrast to emphasize the distance, as shown below. But unfortunately, this looks like an extreme enlargement, and just far too much detail was lost. You might have more in the original. I don't know. But it appears that you've gone beyond the 'pixellation' level, as it were, here.

Great capture John!I like how the brown ducks beek is just touching the mallard! The ducks look a bit grainy and Your name distracts a little from the photo but the capture more than makes up for that!
Well done!.......................John
