Hey Ron, now this is a cool shot!!! Great detail!! I thank you for your very kind comment, but my moons pale in comparrison to yours... but it was at least fun! :) Did you get any shots of the eclipse or was it not viewable where you are? Kindest regards, Brigitte

Waxing gibbus moon! Thank you Dave for informing me of the phase. I really had no idea. I checked it out on the net. http://www.wordinfo.info/words/index/info/view_unit/3215/?letter=C&spage=3 Very infornative and so much to learn. Yes I was surprised to find that this shot had way more detail than me previous full moon shots.

Brilliant waxing gibbus moon, Ron. When I saw the Tychos crater at 6:00, I knew that we had to be at the same latitude. You may be surprised to discover that this shot will be better than a full moon image, as side lighting gives a better feel for the depth of those distant craters.
Cheers.

Ron,
Dude, I have over $1750.00 in my 70-200mm f/2.8L along with $300.00 for the EF 1.4 x II Extender... I also have a Tamron 400mm f/4 with both 1.4 and 2.0 extenders, so for now I'll have to make do... ;(
I'm not even married, but I'm going to pay off my house this year and then I might invest a little more on my hobby (money pit) hehehe
My next lens will be the 24-70mm f/2.8L... ;) For my girl shots and portraits of course... I almost got 1 for Christmas, but I'll wait for some more money gigs first...

Thank you Kelly. I searched the net too for the proper exposure and found it very intimidating. But you know a little common sense and lots of luck later you can get this. :) Regards Ron.

You did get some great detail here!!! Very cool indeed. I still need to do this shot but it does seem to be a lot of work if you look for techniques on the net. I did one day and every one seems to have a different thing to say about how to do this. I am happy for you that you did get it figured out, and quite well I must say!!! Good for you!!!! Kelly

I got a lucky shot off, lol. I actually searched the net for the "correct exposure for the moon". Didn't know that there was such a thing. Some actually discuss the phase of the moon and where you are on the planet and the time of year. Different "ideal" exposures for each situation. The 1D was my x-mas gift to myself. Used but in great shape. I sold my Rebel XT and 3 lenses to get it.

Ron,
How in the heck did you get this kind of detail? And who did you steal the EOS Mark II from?
Awesome work indeed my friend,
Marty

Ah! The moons are back. One of the most popular subjects, besides the sunflowers, I have one too. But seriously, good detail. That thing moves pretty fast.
