Thank you Erin. I'm glad you like it. This messy hair/feathers really make for a stunning photo. Me - not as fortunate! ;)

I love this shot! His hair is priceless :) The contrast of the bird with the water is very nice. Great job

Hi Pat - with the dog and girl photo I really do love - thanks for the comments. Although at times I could use more reach, I'm generally happy with the 100-400. I'd be a little worried about shallow DOF with an 800mm lens...and camera shake...and always having to use a tripod. I am fortunate in that my bird photos were taken at a state park in SC that is set up so I can get pretty close. Most photos on here from me were taken there. Patience, thousands of bad shots, and luck got me most of the better photos I've taken there. Merry Christmas to you, your family, and your "puppy"!

Jeff - A really nice capture - the "bad hair" details are excellent. Buy the way - have you ever used the Sigma 300mm-800mm f/5.6? I have a 400mm prime and really love it - but I have found out that in order to get really detailed bird photos I have to position myself as close as possible and in a blind of some kind. Thanks for your input.

Selim - I am glad you liked it. Thanks for the comment.
Linda - I agree - I'm just glad nobody is trying to take pictures of me while I'm eating and having a bad hair day! Thanks for the comment.
Alicia - Elegant is a good word for how beautiful this bird is. Thank you.
