Thanks so much John for the wonderful and encouraging comment. This is certainly a place to see in person as I dont think any image could do it justice. It has some butiful hidden treasures at the top of the falls as well as long as you are willing to hike a very steep mile to the top!

Amazing photo Wayne, with excellent quality and clarity even in greysca, and also very original as you present bothly a great bridge and a sooooo huge waterfall...amazing and surely a very special place. Congratulations for that priceless photo.

Thanks for the kind comment Penduko!
I wouldn't dive if I were you the water is very shallow and the falls are the highest continuously running falls in the U.S. If I remember corectly I think around 650 ft.

Whoa!
Glad to know no one was injured!
I tend to stitch things together as well especially movies for some reason.

Bet you have some really good stories!

James Cook James Cook   {K:38068} 3/14/2007
Hmmm... if memory serves, there was a wedding in progress when it happened. None injured. Don't take that as gospel though, my memory has been known to stitch things together. Makes for more interesting stories in the end (I write).

Thanks James!
I believe it! There is a HUGE boulder at the bottom of the falls. Wouldn't that have been a site, to see that thing tumbling down?

James Cook James Cook   {K:38068} 3/14/2007
I've been there. Someone told me that large rock fell from the top.

Thank you Chris for taking the time to comment!
I'll admit I had much less experience when I took this shot and just happened to get lucky. When traversing through the trinket shop at the bottom of this gargantuan thing they had many photos all taken with a similar composition. I pretty much copied what I saw.

Just wait till round 2 though! I cant wait to go back with the new camera, tripod and a little more knowledge thanks to usefilm!

Hi Wayne

...since we have been on about waterfalls....and no, not tit for tat :-)
Vojtech makes a valid point, I do think the crop helps.
I think you have captured the scale of this wonderful place..well ...wonderfully.Pity you had no tripod - looks like a great place, so another trip would clearly not be an unpleasant journey for take 2.
I'm not sure why you converted to B/W, but I would have preferred to have seen this in full glorious colour...must be spectacular!
A wonderfull shot nonetheless...

It's good landscape, but I prefer way which choose Vojtech of a composition. No so many changes, but it works :)

Anyway it's a good pic.

Excellent tones of gray, an appropriate contrast and, although the compositions so centered are not the most aesthetic, this it is an exception that confirms the rule; the fact that the cascade and the bridge-mirador are so centered confers to the picture a mystic character.
In my opinion, a very good picture. 7!

Thank You Alex. Yes The Columbia is georgeous! I was there in Sep. Wish I caught all of the leaves changing. I will most definitely look at your photos.

Thank You Vojtech your opinion is most welcome and I do like the way you cropped it. Thanks

Nice place. I would probably crop the image if it was mine - see the attachment. Just an opinion :)

Alex Trumbull   {K:580} 12/6/2006
Ahhh, I've seen that waterfall several times. You've certainly done its beauty justice in this capture. We got some splendid shots from that location in early November, when the trees looked like beautiful yellow lanterns and there was a fog hanging low. Columbia River Gorge is spectacular, isn't it?

I have some Portland photos in my bunch--feel free to check them out!

Best wishes from MIlwaukee,

Alex
