Hi Annemette,
Fun to see new things huh? I'll never forget seeing a photo of the tree with the pacifiers all over it for kids giving up their pacifers ! Being on the west coast most of my life I'v always seen these floats . James Cook was telling me that plastic is now used instead of glass in the fishing nets but the ones I have are glass..... they still show up now and then all the way from Japan. I don't know when the moved from glass to plastic. I was told this by someone who lives out on the Washington coast. I assumed they gauged this by the shift in beach degris over some long time period. That could be an accurate guess, though.

Yeah, from Japan is the story I hear too. These are older though. Now no one uses glass. So it travelled distance and time to find your camera. Here is a shot I did using a float:

They are so cool ...these floats aren't they ? i love them too and between my sister and Mom..we've got a lot of them This one was slightly turquoise..I'll send you an image with-out the net on one.. I really wanted to just have a black background and blue float but got carried away ... Thanks jessie ...when you make it out west you can find them all over the beaches here !
