Thanks for your kind comments Gary. It's interesting that you don't mind the lack of detail on the building, and also quite comforting. I left the plane trail deliberately as I thought it added balance and a certain sense of serenity to the composition. Thanks again and cheers for the critique, Anthony.

Thanks John, you are the second person to have pointed out the lack of detail in the building. I shall bear this in mind for a later posting. Cheers and all the best, Anthony.

Many thanks for your comments Jason. I did initially post this image in B+W, but finally decided to use a colour image. I agree with you - the farmhouse could indeed do with a little more detail, although this, as you say, would have been quite tricky with the backlight. Thanks again and cheers, Anthony.

I often give up when the light gets as low as this, but here you've shown the possibilities that exist if I soldiered on for a few more minutes. I don't think it matters much that there's no real detail in the building, it adds to the general gloominess. Not sure about the plane trail, though, I tend to use PS minimally, but might have given the clone tool an outing if this image were mine. Composition is spot on, with the sun at about the best point. Regards, Gary

Nice composition and lighting. I'd like to have seen a little more detail in the wall of the building and perhaps a closer shot with less ground. John

Anthony:
I am a big fan of backlit trees. I find the patterns of the branches in silhouette can be very interesting, and I think you've captured that in this photo.
This picture also 'feels' cool, or cold even, which it likely was that morning/evening.
One way you might have improved this image would have been to capture a little more detail in the farmhouse. That would have been fairly tricky to do without blowing out the sky, and perhaps diminishing the effectiveness of the tree silhouettes.
Good choice of a simple black border - always goes well with this type of backlit photo.
Jason.
