Nice double portrait . . . the shadow of the ear becomes a distracting issue . . . as does the look of annoyance on Sagwa's face . . . he doesn't seem to be enjoying this and he's also not bothing to look at you. ;)
On the other hand . . . the lighting is generally good and the colors are top-notch. Even Sagwa's cute . . . you must be doing SOMETHING right!
Your BG in this shot is better . . . slightly blurred in the DOF which is good . . . though I still think you're losing hair into the BG and would prefer to see it pulled out of the BG and into the shot . . . which requires, I think, either low-level backlighting or a lighter BG all around. Overall . . . nice work and interesting seeing you step out in this area!

Exellent portrait John-Eric,
Very nice placement of the light. Except for the shadow of the cat's ear it is perfect. It really gives a nice light to both subjects and the detail as well as the story of your wife's love of her cat is all there.
