About Just to see how the Nikon copes with this sort of shot (albeit not with an ideal lens) in comparison with the Minolta. Lighting: natural sunlight.

Thanks Doyle. I'm now hard wired again so able to beat the temperamentality of my wireless connection.

Your assumption is of course correct. He he, funny thing is, all these drops were shot with the same settings! You'll have to read the other comments for the explanation of the pink milk.

As to the machine, well it's heavy, bulky, already needs dust specks removing (allegedly...), the lenses I want that will give me the flexibility of my old Minolta each cost more than the camera itself, and I had to buy the Casio at the same time for those days when I don't have a wheelbarrow with me to lug the stuff around. Apart from that, I love it!

Seriously though, of course it's a great piece of kit. I've taken something like 1300 shots already and am taking the opportunity to experiment extensively. Hence the uploading of compositions like the one here. But one award in 1300 shots? Well, random shots with my eyes closed would probably do about as well...

AJ

PS. It's scary when someone whose first language is not English uses words you have to look up - I did the same. Nice one Hugo!

Agreed with Hugo for the most part (after looking up rheological)! Interesting study and composition and I'm assuming a variety of shots pulled from a variety of drops over time and placed about how they would have occurred had the shots been all of one drop's progress.

The top center drop is far too soft for somebody with the caliber of skill you possess (IMO). My personal opinion is that this subject doesn't lend it self well to this form of presentation and has much more impact as individual shots. Also . . . Pink milk? Eeeeeeeew! :(

Nice to be back about though . . . learning and getting ideas and seeing others do the same. You've had it for a bit now . . . earned at least an award with it already . . . I GOTTA' ASK . . . How do you like the new Nikon? :)

Regards,
Doyle I <~~~~~

Hi Hugo! Thanks for that - I hadn't really thought about the frame in the context of the final image. It all started out with an idea of putting Xs and Os in the boxes, and somehow the milk drops (yes - really milk, but with a little red food colouring added...) crept in instead. And the idea of the nine boxes and the nine drops caught hold.

Hi AJ,

Excellent way of showing motion and sequence. not so sure about the blue frame, it contrasts too much with the pink tones (milk?!) - I think it makes the frame too present, thus a bit intrusive, if you know what I mean. Nevertheless I like this one, very well captured, and a great rheological effect. Very well captured.

Cheers,

Hugo

Strawberry yogurt - now there's an idea, Tony! I used milk with red food colouring. The idea was that immediately after I'd put a drop of colouring in, the milk drops would splash it up and create all sorts of wonderful patterns. Well, by the time I'd got everything sorted the milk was already a pretty uniform pink...

Yes, it's been howling in Tarifa for the last two days and the windsurfing has been superb, with just a few of us out on the water enjoying it!

Neat idea very well executed.I'm off to get a strawberry yogurt,it's wet my appetite! It's been windy here for a couple of days so I imagine that in Tarifa it'll be howling!
All the best, Tony
