Oh My GOSH! That was the point and click I used to use!!! Incredible what it can do, eh?? Actually, this wasn't even the first . . . I had a 1.3 MP before this one. Great shot. What happened to the Nikon? Packed for moving?
Regards, Doyle I <~~~~~

Hi John... Actually worked out what it is... It's a Leptospermum or a Tea Tree... Quite woody and stiff... LOL... Have no idea why I said Heath...
Love Boronias... Perfume is brilliant but the longest I have had any success growing was around 3 yrs... a Lemon and the Brown...
Thank you for finding time to comment, appreciated greatly...

I like how the light in the background has created a kind of heavy vignetting, it draws the focus directly into the detailed flower heads. Beautiful colours too.
Would this plant not be a Boronia rather than a Heath?
regards John

Wow, how nice is this image - and how good is your portfolio!! The Olympus is a trusty little pocket rocket isn't it?
You can see your artistic influence in your photos - my mother is an artist too...and it's interesting to see the compositions you put together..very beautiful portfolio!

Thanks Dave... It is a bright, waxy little flower, the colour is as is... Think the fact I had daylight thru' the window plus the downlights helped with that aspect...
Backgound just the black core boaed but same thing... It was at a 45 degree angle so the downlight created the glow and *burnt* the black... Have same in other photos...
Appreciate your time and comment Dave...

Hi Ani... ~~GRIN~~... My pleasure to make you FEEL good Sweet Lady...
Time poor as in getting *out* with the cameras... so, YEHHHH for the kitchen bench/sink... and anything that I see is a target...
Pretty flat country up here and this year we have had many days of high winds... Nothing stands still, or went it does, no time... LOL...
Truly appreciate your comments... so thank you...

Kitchen benches (and kitchen sinks) are good places for macro shots!!! :)
This is really lovely Onie... I see it more as art than a textbook photograph. It makes me FEEL good...
And yes... our weather has been bizarre, 'eh??? But look at how our flowers rough it and keep on keeping on :)
Hugs to you, Ani :)

Hi Duncan... I was getting desperate ~~grin~~... We have had silly weather as in many days of high winds, hot mid 30'sC and then back to frosts... Spring... so flora is a little battered & bruised... The flowers here are approx 1/4 inch across, a Heath I think... Used our little tripod under kitchen down lights with black core board...
Nikon 5700 is having problems, so, using the 3.2 meg Olympus as a fill in...
Thank you so much for your time and comment, truly appreciated... I have been perusing your portfolio of very interesting work and shall return...

I think this image has such interesting character primarily because it is not a particulary beautiful bloom in the traditional sense.
However, the pestils and stamens are so unique, and your macro shows such great detail, it is a scientific study into the intricacies of florals in your region. A true "textbook photograph", and quite well done in that venue.
