About As I was walking through the Boston Public Library a few weeks ago, I snuck into a closed section of the building that was being restored, and saw this scene.

This ladder and how it was lit reminded me of Vermeer's "Milkmaid"; the lighting and colors were so close, in my mind.

See the "MilkMaid"

Regards,
Johnny

yay! another break from cleaning/packing for moi...

right on,JK...perfection!...glad you left in full floor as FG table doesn't bother enough to lose where the light hits on the floor...oddly enough i was so taken by the hues and light that i just now noticed the plastic bottle and whatever else is up there...
LOL about leaving "unmolested"....and i was just beginning to think you were fun...ba da bing! ;>

if you get the chance and feel so inclined, let me know which images of mine appeal to you...i haven't posted since July, but been here 3yrs.so have a few to choose from...later
cheers back at cha',gayle

*BTW,you can drop the formal "Ms" as only there this year because too many guys from other countries thought i was a dude and some got macho in forums with me...hahaha

John, IMHO I think this is a stronger image with out the distraction of the ceiling.

Ms. Gayle,

How does this cropped version work for you?

Also, sneaking around in the closed off areas had its rewards, this shot, and a dirty look from a librarian. She fit in perfectly with my perceptions of what a city librarian should look like. Her look was of "vengeance is mine", but I escaped unmolested.

Cheers,
Johnny

Hello Ali, Cleveland and Ms. Gayle,

Thank you for your input. I have cropped the photo to what I think works, and following your suggestions.

Please let me know your thoughts.

Cheers,
Johnny

Cropped

hi,good memory for how light falls in images...quality of light is a biggie for me as at times it is very poetic...i would crop down to just below the eggshell colored ceiling border...like the repetition in the reflections...also like that you sneaked in as i have done on more than one occasion...
regards,gayle

John, great take on this image, focus, color and composition seem to on, one little nit with me is the table in the bottom right corner, but what is one to do. IMO I would crop the top down to the point on the left side of the beige portion of the drop ceiling. The lighting on the wall is very much like "Milk Maid" good image and well conceived. Just my ideas and opinions.
