Carl, this is really good, but nothing strange coming from you, not sure which is better, crop or not to crop, in this occasion seems to be not very important, i'd love to take (or make) pictures like this ...jd

Lady Shirley, Thanks for the comments. Actually there was a crop that I did make for a psychologist publication 3 years ago so it would fit the portrait canvas. Your crop and the one I did are almost the same. See the attachment. I still like the original I posted better. I like the extended darkness it goes with better with the title for me. Carl

I love this, Carl! Just a bit too much black around it...how's this crop?

I really like this idea. The silhouettes framing the main image are very effective and the slightly lacey appearance of the leaves makes it unharsh, which is good and eye pleasing. Also, the colour and hint of detail in the foreground sugggest a journey has been made from somewhere else to this point in the opening. Even the little streaks in the upper left section indicate there were probably some tears along the way. There is a mystical, yet hopeful feeling created by the bluish tone of the lighted area and the large round area. It all fits together so well. The only thing I find is that the round area looks raher 'splotchy', for me that distracts somewhat from the overall impression. MAry
