Fascinating Series and compositionally this is better than the first . . . (I've always preferred the 'Second Look' anyway - ;) - )! Glad I get to go through these in order. :)

Thanks for sharing your secrets, Bec. I'll give it a try myself soon. And, yes, it was definitely worth the time and effort. It's been a very interesting and enjoyable series. Cheers, Ann.

Ann, as I mentioned before, the original shots were taken with tripod, camera set on selftimer mode, in the bedroom with natural light and red-eye flash.
I then converted them to B+W, adjusted the white level in PS until I still had just enough detail. Next was to dodge at 100% all of the parts I didn't want in the shot...that can be time consuming, fiddly and a bit tricky, but I think the effort was worth it :)
After that I re-adjusted the levels and contrast to darken the blacks a little.
....after that came the cropping or extra white space, depending on how much room the originals had, (a good idea to crop down to bare essentials when doing the burning, then add the 'space' after).
That's pretty much it apart from some sharpening, hope that was easy to follow!!!
Thankyou for yur interest, much appreciated,
cheers, Bek

I like the effect too. The high key "hint" at the image allows the mind to fill in the blanks and the blanks are very appealing. I prefer this verison over the previous one because of the hand and the way it breaks up the lines while the ring adds a touch of contrast. Excellent eye candy.
--Best to you, Jan
