Thank you a 1000 times, Giuseppe!
I also think that it is exactly this contrast between the highhlighted swan and the rest, that creates that mood. A highly reflective area of the white feathers and a darker background let the swan look so gracious!
Have a nice Friday night!

Splendid! When the day is going to bed the swans show all their beauty. The light still cought by their very white feathers creates underexposition around the swans that stand beautifully. I like also the warm mood around it. Ciao Nick.

Thanks a lot for your great comment, Doyle!
I'll be doing some more with water in the next days, as the light is getting more and more autumn warm here around.
Water greetings and best wishes,
Nick

Awesome use of light in this shot . . . you got the exposure spot-on and the composition is good too. Love the warm golden hues on this beautiful bird. Light reflection and dark water and ripples along the surface from the water master . . . Beautiful!

Dear Annemette,
the swan looks really graceful in that contrast to the dark water, but it got a bit angry with time giving me signals with its half raised wings, as I was shooting and shooting with many different settings. (Get lost buddy! Enough photo session for today! ;-)) After some shots I decided to leave it in peace, not knowing if I had some good shot, but thanks heavens this one was OK.
I think it has been something like f/22, 1/250s, with single spot light metering at its white wings but I am not so sure about it.
Many thanks and all the best,
Nick

Dear Nick I like how the swan is lying there gracefully in solitude all white as a contrast to the dark water. The water looks so alive due to the ripples and special colour, and the weak reflection of the swan creates a romatic feel to the photo. All the best, Annemette

That has been indeed my wish, Jan! And in addition to not let the swan look grey under that wonderful morning light. I had to take many shots, trying different settings, and with time the swan started getting aggressive. (Such models nowadays! ;-) But it was good for me, since when they are angry they raise their wings this particular way, like on the photo.
But I had also much luck, having it looking me with its head turned to the side on this shot.
Many thanks for your nice comment and best wishes,
Nick

Beautiful shot; you managed to maintain the deep and rich color of the water without going to black. Well done. --Jan
