Yeah, Gayle, I have a 75-300 zoom but I just got my most-favored 17-85 Image Stabilized lens back from Canon, and it was all I had on me at the moment.

hi,good to know about the cropping with 8mp whenever i make the jump to digital...i thought you had a 300 or more lens?...and i like the bit of palm showing,too

I had my (effective) 28-135 zoom on my camera, and was at max telephoto. In fact, I cropped out a significant amount of the shot to zoom even more (one pleasant benefit of shooting at 8+ megapixels) but I wanted to keep a piece of the palm tree in my shot.

hi, like the position of bird within framing of shot,but you should have used your zoom to get more details,eh? (smileys are not showing next to my comments...any idea why?)
