About I cannot resist old buildings. This general store is (obviously) no longer in operation. Each day, it is falling further and further into disrepair. Even the Street's sign has relatively recently been stolen and widows have been smashed by vandals. Soon a long standing landmark will disappear forever. Tragic. Maybe I am overly sentimental about it. This was my local general store when I was a kid, and I remember the life of it and the people who owned and ran the business. Too many memories perhaps...The sound of children laughing after school as they raced to the store to spend a few cents on a bag of mixed sweets... No more.

Thank you Mary!
I have actually approached the owners of this building to do something about it so it is not bulldozed! I believe it is a national heritage building, as the old service station across the road is and they were built at the same time... (that's all we have in the town...) I am fighting for this building! If I could, I would purchase it... dreaming here though...

Warmest Wishes and again many thanks my friend,
Aniko :)

The colour and texture really does give the feeling of the past. And the sad atmosphere of its decline. Great image that should start a film of lives around it.

It is understandable that your memories would make you more nostalgic about this building. I have also felt that way about places in my town, since I've lived here almost my whole life. Lovely B&W photo, Aniko!

Yeah... and considering I still live here and see this store frequently, I guess it's more understandable. Thanks again, dear friend.
