Thanks so much for your comments! Ya know.. after I posted this, i printed it 5" squared w/o the matte, and dropped it into a frame w/ a matte that was 4" wide and just as you noted, gave it very deep drama!
I left all that space of the bottom to keep the hidden lower portion of a man's face in frame.. that my wife spotted when she first saw the image.

Neat shot!!! Gorgeous tones/colors!!! Fascinating image, super shallow DOF... well done!!! Love the square crop... but I personally would've gone for an even 'smaller pic/more drastic crop' for the foreground is a bit 'stressed ehhhh stretched' for me... or is that just because I'm drinking a softdrink instead of a beer... LOL!!! Nice to hear from you again BTW... ;-D
