About
More puttering about with tones and textures. Taken with weather threatening, while camping at Diefenbaker Lake in Saskatchewan. I'm not sure if the brushed-edges frame helps or hinders this image.
Thanks, Andre - I had the lense zoomed back to 28 mm to really push the feeling of vulnerability - as you say, a small child playing away, blithely unaware of the dark clouds gathering. The colouring, etc, that I PS'd in after was just to make it all even more gloomy. In some ways it works against the original intent, I think, since it is hard to see him playing there (even after I fiddled with the saturation, etc). I think for most impact (at least, this is how I saw it) the viewer will see the image of childhood, but understand that it is also about parenthood.
Hi Jon, I could have sworn that I wrote a comment on this one a few days ago. Did you loose some comments in one of their crashes recently?
Anyway, There is a really nice feeling of nostalgia in this image. I usually don't go so much for fancy borders like this one. But, in this case it works well. You could take this image for a metaphor quite easily. You know... the innocence of childhood soon to be ended... big storm coming etc. etc.
