About Okay, here's my first attempt at a lightning shot. I didn't have my tripod with me, so this is a handheld 5 second exposure. Was lucky enough to get minimal shake/blur. I love the blue tone to the sky. (removed some power lines in the mid/right-ish area)

Thanks, Marlyce. Yes, it was not long after this shot that I retreated indoors as the "power of the electricity" was a tad close for comfort! :-D

what an outstanding first attempt especially being handheld. can almost feel the power of the electricity!

Wow! Now, this is one thing that I tried to capture last summer, without success! This is a great first attempt! Excellent!

Cheers

Gary, sorry about that! The reply from Medina Demeter was really from me. She forgot to log herself out on my computer and I left feedback under her name by mistake!

Sorry! :-D

Thanks, Gary! Like I said to Shirley, I'm not sure I really am that steady. I think it was just dark enough that you don't notice much blur and that when the lightning struck, it acted like a strobe and froze everything.

Thanks for the view and comment! :-)

Awesome shot, especially considering the long exposure. You must be solid as a rock.

By looking at this photo, I do LOOK steady. Mostly, I think that it was dark enough that things didn't blur and when the lighting flashed it froze things where they were.

Thanks for the comment! :-D

Thanks Winston. I can't wait until I have a tripod for my next try. :-D

Thanks, James! I thought the blue was quite remarkable, too. I find that lightning shots tend to be luck of the draw with what you get and what you don't! All depends on where you happen to be pointing the camera at the time! :-D

Thanks for the comment! :-D
