Come on Sam it's great that you're protecting your Bro, but to have a go at someone because of THEIR opinion, mate people shoot at different levels but if you think it is too dark then say it, this is a critiquing site people will say things you've got to remember if there is nothing in the about, about what you were trying to do, and you are not farmiliar with a persons style you can only critique on what you can see. Robs already stated what he was after in the shot, and i agree with chad the foreground is to dark in this shot, Rob has stated that he was after a silohette for the forground, this would of worked if that had been the case, but there is enought detail in the forground to drag your eyes there. therefore Rob has not achieved his endstate. I'm sure you'll read this in the correct contents Sam as it is a mate to a mate. Rob the colours in the sky are amazing and i'm sure with some PS work you could recreate exactly what you intended

Hey Rob, I know the type of shot you were going for on this one. What baffles me is that someone has the nerve to Critique someones work and their work isn't up to par. I figure that if someone is going to break down what they would have or not have done on a shot. Then their portfolio BETTER be at a very high level!
Oh well Bro take the comments with a grain of salt and consider the source. Another Outstanding Job. Sam III

Yeah, that's an amazing sky.
If you wanted to bring out the land, as Chad suggests, using the grad would help a lot in capturing that as one image.
I wasn't sure which direction were heading.
Hmmm... Maybe adding a density filter to darken the whole scene would move you toward a higher silhouette for the land?
Keep up the good work.

Yep...I didn't use the Grad Filter on this one...probably should have taken a few shots with it but I was concentrating on the sky and the Island for these shot and wanted the foreground to almost be a silhoeutte. I do love using the grad filter though...
thanks!

Wonderful shot. You could make it better by including more detail in the foreground. Right now its too dark I think. A composit of this with the foreground properly exposed in the alpen glow would be beautiful. Still a great shot.

I love my polarizers. Can't use one on my current camera though. The blue in this sky is very surreal. Do you carry a graduated filter for shoots like this? That's the other filter I make the most use of.

Hi James! I used a polarizer and underexposed the shot by a stop or two...trying to remember...

What kind of filtering did you use for the coloring of the sky?
