Maybe I got the meaning of "moody" wrong. I meant with lots of atmosphere:-) I guess moody can mean gloomy??
Your work is beautiful, and I imagine this one will look terrific on a cabinwall out in the mountains. You´re fortunate to have such a place surrounded by nature´s beauty.
Best wishes,
Annemette

IR rays are there with/without sun, only the exposure time changes. When I shot film Konica 750
[one of the best film ever made IR OR B&W]I shot
on a very cloudy day,in printing I hold back exposure by dodging and I got awesome IR effects.
Been doing IR from 1998 and still have things to learn but I not too technical a photographer.
I have a lot of tutorials on ps 7 but can`t be bothered to learn it in depth, not my style.
Keep enjoying your photography Anson.
Take care.

Thanks for the detailed work flow, Robbie. Quite a bit different from mine. Most people will tell you that you can't do infrared work with "false colors" unless you have full sun. This is baloney. I have found that my most interesting work, from my viewpoint, has come from lower light situations. For example, the picture in my portfolio of the old truck and the one room school house next to the tree was done in almost full shade, yet it got some of the most evocative responses yet. This picture, which looks a little different on my screen in TIF format is going on my living room wall when I get back home. Regards. Anson

I know we have different work flows but here is mine.Camera setting normal tone, contrast,NO sharpening, shoot in RAW.WB-Flourescent+3.
Sky might over exposure,I compensate with -ev
until acceptable.matrix metering on first shot then switch to manual exposure.
Raw converter capture one le,no changes into Tiff files,
ps7...
Auto level,channel mixture{ACTION}
Duplicate,Color balance,hue/saturation,sometimes curves.
The duplicated image play around with it,nice colors but different from the first.
This is the fun part..
APPLY IMAGE and blend them experimenting with
the various settings.
Soften...I used Gaussen blur alot to give that dreamlike effect.
Above all the colors you get are yours,no problem if some people don`t.You are not creating for them but if they like it is so nice!!!
Take care Anson.
Robbie.
ps..I use Dimage 7 because I hate to change lens when shooting birds with 300/4 plus it gives Awesome IR B&W images straight from the camera.Needs only contast/brightness brush up.

Thanks for such an informative critique, Robert. Yes, you did see this picture somewhat earlier in the day, but, as I have found sometimes happens with the postings, the image I saw on my screen from my hard drive did not match what I saw here on the web. The first one lost almost all the green/neutral to the water, so I boosted the saturation up a little and reposted. I had not thought of using ACTIONS to save steps in the work flow; they would work great if the exposures were all pretty similar, in terms of brightness, contrast, color saturation. I find that due to my long and somewhat limited latitudes in exposures, that my images range greatly in terms of those parameters, making ACTIONS of somewhat limited use, but maybe I will give them a try. I have one in my library already. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience with me. That is what makes UF so valuable and enjoyable. Anson

Very good composition Anson, thought I saw this before.I can see you are working on your Sepia work flow but take it easy it will come. When I am having difficulty processing as in NC images I did an ACTION and just played around,if by chance I get a good colors I know it can be repeated easily.Back to your image, dreamlike effect and the stones are an invitation to wet your feet.I like the sun hitting the foliage which gives a warming effect.
Take care Anson

I'm really not very moody myself, Annemette, it's just that my camera doesn't have a very sensitive sensor for IR radiation, and I have to do that. For this particular shot I would have liked something on the order of 1 second to get a little bit more texture in the water. I like this one anyway and will probably hang it here at the cabin in the mountains. I love your work and you have reminded me to check up on you now. Regards. Anson

You images are always so moody and wonderful to view. Great smooth effect due to the long exposuretime. Dreamy, surreal:-) I love it.
Best wishes,
Annemette

Thanks Rashed for the evaluation. And the IR tomato was truly out of focus. The autofocus was not working well in the low light. I deleted the image. Regards. Your friend, Anson.
