Marvelous DOF, Alison. Uncomplicated and very elegant.

hi alison. i've been away from UF for a few months, so its good to see you have more nice photos and a new camera. i also just bought a 70-300mm lens and once i saw this shot i suspected by the DoF it was taken with a long lens. as noted, nice DOF here, but i think you should have tried to up the yellow saturation a little, and it would be much brighter.

best wishes. james

This is so beautifully isolated from the background and so wonderfully composed. Out of all the possibilities that must have existed, you certainly chose the best.

Wonderful clarity in the razor sharp details of this beautiful looking plant my dear Alison and the dof is just awesome. I particularly love those exquisite fine hairs and the intricate detailed veining in the leaf. Well done you this is a superb nature study sweetie.

I'm pleased to see you back again dear Alison and I hope you are keeping well and that everything is OK for you. My very best wishes to you as always.....Ray

I agree that the depth of field is excellent here. The subtle back lighting really makes those tiny hairs stand on end. There's such a mood to the curve and the color of the curled tendril. You can almost see it growing right before your eyes. Another variation for this shot might have been to shoot it an angle a little more horizontal than the one you have displayed here. Outstanding overall!
