Umm I guess Paul firstly its the nature of the Australian bush to be generally featureless, rough territory.. part of my attraction to it which began when I was.. what 15 years old or some such.. so this shot.. ell there is nothing much remarkable about it and that again is part of the reason I like this little spot.. I guess having seen the early work of Peter Elliston, Christine Cornish, Ian Lobb and David Stephenson and Even Lee Friedlander’s views of the Australian bush back in the 1980's really alerted me to the fact that the very what at first seems boring can in fact be used to accomplish great things and that not all landscape photograph has to emulate Ansell Adams Eliot Porter et al.. i.e. landscape as grand theme.. so with that in mind and my camera in hand I have wandered through the scenes that you have seen on UF with that specific intent in mind to bring a view essentially of the forgotten the in my view vastly underestimated and haunting beauty that exist right at our doorstep. Was it not Andy who asked “Can you see beauty in ugliness…”
In terms of composition I have based the image around the thirds construction with a diagonal leading line from the bottom LHS across and up to the bottom third and then concentrating the viewers eye in the patch of sunlight in the centre foreground. After that the eye can get involved in the arguments of the branches above and generally wander around the image discovering all its intricacies. I hope this helps.

I've studied this series, Roger, I really have.
I've looked at each shot and TRIED to ascertain what caused you to take the shot. These shots are technically splendid, yet somehow devoid of any central subject.

Help me understand what made you not only take the shot, but then work it, scale it and upload it.
