Hi Chris,
Requirements to achieve this wonderful color are to shoot slide film and use graduated neutral density filters. I recommend you try one of Mark Rasmussen's LightChase PHotography tours. He teachs this technique (and the trips are great fun). Do a yahoo search for his website. It is a geocities page. Or email me and I can email you the link.

Wow......you make my pictures from Oregon last summer look bland. I can only imagine how much more impressive the full image must be. The clouds are utterly exquisite, I am impressed!
