Nicely done Dave. Your choice of framing and presentation really accents the strong horizontal character of this shot.

Dave:

I'm having noise problems too - essentialy if you do not have the correct exposure you're at a loss. I'm going to have to delve into Photoshop's HDR funtion - I have some shots that were at least three stops of lighting, in this case I took multiple exposures across 6 stops from a tripod and I've heard that the High Dynamic Range in Photoshop can then blend the correctly exposed pieces of these six shots into one perfectly exposed shot. Dunno.

Thanks, Michael. You are right, the subtlty of this as well as the lines formed by the dry lake, the wet lake and the ridge coming out of the right are what appealed to me. Hard to get away from the hot summer haze but in essence, that haze carries through, leaving that subtlty.

Thanks for the feedback on the Manti-La Sal photo. I will remember the reflection/rules of thirds next time. And yes, the clouds actually blew while making some levels adjustment. I'm still working with your tutorials on getting that right. Not sure if it was you who said "make minor adjustments over and over" instead of trying to do it all at once. I keep introducing noise into the adjustments and it is frustrating.

Dave

Hi Dave - I really enjoy this one - nice horizontal lines, a little bit of reflection - very subtle tones, at least on this LCD laptop screen.

The hanging sky and the clouds top it off well.
