Thanks for the critique on this, Nicole. I agree the backgound. perhaps, could be a bit lighter. I was trying to balance a strong contrast and saturation with the light. My monitor is a bit brighter than normal and I may tend to make my images a little darker to compensate. I will look into correcting this. Thank you very much for the feedback. ~ Warm regards, Rocky

great idea, nice shadow under apple, but I do wish the image over all were brighter, especially the background.

cheers,

I agree with the hazy mountain. This was all done in-camera except for the shadow under the apple. The mountain and sky were naturally hazy that day and the apple much clearer since it was closer to the camera. Here's a long shot of the set-up. I hung the apple from a thread (from a microphone boom) and positioned the camera so the apple appeared to be on top the mountain. The hard part was to shoot it when it stopped spinning. It just looked like it belonged there. Thanks for the comment and critique. - Warm regards, Rocky

Apple set-up

Neat idea for your project. Would make a creative ad for Washington apples. The illusion factor is definately there but IMHO the color tones seem a bit hazed on your mountain scene. The eye definately goes to your main subject: the apple but maybe just a bit more color all around to give it a bump of detail power.
