Jim, You definitely know your place in the greater scheme of things. It is my rule that cats don't sit on the kitchen bench. But what would I know, I'm just the staff. CC

Dogs have a master, cats have a staff. Speaking as one of my cats' staff. Great photo.

Ciprian, thankyou for leaving a comment. The orange bits are the pattern in my kitchen bench where this naughty tabby was sitting. I will check out your portfolio tomorrow. Cathy

Dave, Finally someone who understands the title.
I am not the sort of person who makes my cats sit on mirrors. Who makes cats do anything? This naughty kitty decided to perch on my kitchen bench-a big No-No in this family. Though I have to admit I did enjoy it. Cathy

Yes, Cathy, I notice you have a real little 'clique' going up there!!!! LOL Good on you!

Well, my parents don't live far from the hospital, I'll call in to say 'hello'. We hope to come up on Wednesday the 19th for a couple of days! I'll see you then!

Cheers

Hi Phil, Thank you for taking the time to comment. This latest cat project is my way of participating in UF without having to brave the cold conditions.

Cloud cover last night looked right for snow, didn't fall, maybe waiting for your arrival. I'm an avid weather watcher, will keep you posted.

PS there's a group of 5 of us Uf'ers now in Orange, if you have time to catch up, my husband and I have a business called the Willows, near the hospital. CC

PS We're coming to Orange next week. I'm looking forward to taking a few shots while I'm there! I hope it snows - that would be a bonus!!!

Angela, coffee soon please, still interested in doing the photoshop course? Cathy

Cathy Carroll Cathy Carroll   {K:28144} 7/8/2006
Thanks so much for all your information so far, re framing. About the reflection- this image is 100% as it was taken. For the first time in weeks I had found my black, shiny, speckled kitchen bench under the clutter of daily life. The cat investigated. That's her rump in the top of the shot and the speckled bench on the bottom. Its funny you mention racoon, she has the weirdest coat, we suspect her dad was a possum. No digital manipulation here but I'm sure I would have if I could have. I'm enrolled in a photoshop course next month! Cathy

Chris Sitter Chris Sitter   {K:2345} 7/8/2006
oh right the framing......here you make me deluge my secrets.....the frame you like, the one I used on Mount Robson is a canned frame out of Paint Shop Pro X by Corel. It is a great frame but I have yet to find how to manipulate it thus it is not suited for every picture. It would be very tedious to re-create manually as you can see. I will give some thought as to how I might be able to send you it............

  0

Chris Sitter Chris Sitter   {K:2345} 7/8/2006
Are you sure that is a cat and not a raccon? :) Looks like i am not the only one who uses some digital manipulation.....what is it you have done in the reflection to create the coloured spheres? That can't be natural......well done either way as it adds an element of intrigue to the shot. Very creative.

Another beautiful feline image. They really are exquisite models both in the small and large forms. This image delivers twice as much beauty with the wonderful curve reflected. Tremendous work!
We should have coffee and maybe you could teach me how to frame the photo, as this too adds to the overall affect.
