About My first real attempt at modifying an image, something I would not normally do. However, this shot suffered from some severe colour issues and I thought that an effect might help preserve the pose and allow a mediocre picture to be a better one.

As always, thank you for your comments Cathy.

Beyond getting new ideas on how to set up future shots, I find comments like yours the most rewarding. It is fun to see how others interpret your images, especially if they enjoy them as much as you enjoyed taking them.

Please pass on my best wishes to all your clients, especially the 3-5 year olds this morning. If there is an animal that they would like to see which I have not yet posted (keeping Kenyan wildlife in mind), please let me know and I will see if I have an image to appease them which I can post sooner than later.

All the best,
Ed

As owner of a childcare centre I can inform you your portfolio has been very popular today. This photograph in the "pink jungle" has been the most popular with the 3-5 year olds. Cathy

I really like the modification, as the original though really nice really blended into the background. the modified one has a ligher background thus making the elephant stand out much more, very much more appealing!!!

Thank you for your comments Marcus.

Considering your work, I truly value your opinion. What did you think about my decision on the colour alteration compared to the original?

All the best,
Ed

Thank you for your comment Dave.

As I am sure you know, we are often our own toughest critics and although the shot wasn’t too bad I truly wasn’t happy with it. I am glad you think the colour manipulated version is an interesting alternative, if nothing else. I think it gives an older feel to it like a safari from many years ago.

All the best,
Ed

I think many of us would have been satisfied with your original, Ed, but your toning gives it another dimension.
Dave.

Thank you for the confirmation Paul.

True the original wasn’t horrible, but I am glad you agree that the colour manipulated version was an improvement.

All the best,
Ed

Thank you for your comment Avi.

This is actually a close-up shot, as it is one of an immature elephant (not even half the size of the parent it was with).

All the best,
Ed

Oh, it's not that bad, Edward.
Your Duotone is an improvment, I think.

I think you've saved this one, Edward! You've still got a shot most of us would envy being able to get, and excellent details. What a great perspective on this elephant!
Dave.

What a PERFECT moment captured, Edward. For me, the pose is more important than any coloration or toning. WOW!
