About Athene cunicularia
Burrowing Owls are a very important species of California's landscape.
Unfortunately their populations are declining steady. Their main threats are their lost of habitat and predation by feral cats.
Their future is uncertain; however an important population remains at Shoreline Park.
This picture is dedicated to biologist Phil Higgins.
Phil, I hope your conservation efforts will help to prolong the survival of this magnificent species.

Hi Greg,
For this shot I used AV mode with F/7.1 and ISO 400- 0 exposure compensation.
I also enhanced the image with PS.
Thanks.

Hi Neil,
This is a wild bird. Due to the lost of habitat some of this guys moved to a golf course. That's the reason why the lanscape looks so green.
Thanks for your comment.

Excellent capture of this one, Yamil! Beautiful colour and details, especially the eyes! I hope they are able to sustain themselves there.
Dave.

Great image and feel. The owl almost looks annoyed, which is fitting with your statement. Can I ask, is that extremely short DOF natural, or was it enhanced in PS?

Regradless of the environment this is a beautifully executed photograph.

But I am interested to know - is this a wild bird in it's natural setting?
