About A grab shot - he turned his head just before I fired the shutter. Converted to b&w, some playing around with contrast and lighting to heighten the sense of mood.

Thanks Mary... he really has a brooding look to him, doesn't he? It's easy to take good pictures when you have such a beautiful model :-]

Cheers,

Jon

A wonderful and classic image. The clarity and the atmosphere striking. Can see each eyelash! Great framed too.

Hi Jon,
Thanks for the tip... I'll have to try that. I really like the results on this one!

Thanks, Randy - I agree that many times good photographs get missed because the thumbnail doesn't do justice to the full sized version. It may be that in some respects UF is a victim of its own success. Nevertheless - I completely agree that it is a damned near perfect shot :-]

cheers,

Jon

Thank you Andre for your very kind comments. After I converted it to B&W I increased the colour depth to 16 million colours so that I could add just a bit of warming to it to mimic the look of a print on warm-toned paper.

Happy shooting,

Jon

Looking at comments it seems a lot of people missed this great shot. I think that as thumbnail it looses a lot.
He is looking off at just the right angle and such a good expression captured, the the cropping couldn't be better and I'd say the same for all the other aspects.
Very well done

This one came out really nice Jon.
I like the grain effect and the beautiful toning. The lighting is perfect too. Just look at the area of his chin and the t-shirt below! The lighting shows off the texture in the skin and also the texture of the fabric in the shirt.
More than just a grab shot Jon! An excellent portrait!
