I find that there are often days when none of my pictures that I truly like get comments on either. I find that difficult but we are all busy I guess. However, I saw this picture in a thumb and had to click as I could not understand what it was.
It is simply beautiful! The fine details are simply outstanding. You comment that you were just playing with your new camera. I can hardly wait to see your pictures when you master it! Congrats on a fine picture! Water is hard enough to capture let alone with such intensity! The placement in this picture speaks to how small yet how significant it is. The reflections are amazing within it! Simply beautiful! All the best Vic

Hi Dan,
I like the diaonal composition as well as the high level of detail in the focussed area. The refraction in the drop creates a very good reference to the surrounding area, which makes this photo.
As to the composition, I think you could've gone a bit more extreme by trying to place the drop in the top right corner. The current placement (vertically centered, horizontally approximately on the 1/3rd line) makes it more static than needed, IMO. Besides, the majority of the points of interest are, next to the refraction in the drop and the hairs in the leaf in the lower left corner (being the array of gradients and hues, pretty nice!)
I took the liberty of altering the compostion a bit to illustrate what I mean.
Very good macro, though.
Cheers,
Hugo
