Thanks a lot Doyle, it really gives an impact now & black framing is apt.Looks graceful this way too.1/3rd.
im grateful to u to teach me & jot down simplifying the rules.its here at UF, ive learnt. you helped me understand the basic rules in photography..never had i tried this thing. i'll for sure keep this in mind & make use of the 1/3rd rule..
Thanks again for your support.

Jennifer

Hi Jennifer!
Good that you pulled it off center (on one axis) but I had in mind pulling it from BOTH axis, horizontal and vertical. It's called the rule of 1/3s and if you picture a tic-tac-toe board, anywhere lines cross is a good place to make a focal point in a composition. It works very well to keep pictures dynamic by adding tension instead of static. I attached an example so that you'd know what I had in mind. You can see the difference between orange and black borders yourself . . . that's subjective but I would point out that it's (as you say) more common . . . for a reason. You could still accent it with a thin color. Rich colors and vibrant colors are much better presented with the black (IMO) while muted could use white . . . Check the example, determine what YOU like and enjoy doing your thing . . . As I said initially, your work is good already. I only point out ways in my opinion that could give the good shots like this even more impact. I hope it helps! :)

Doyle I <~~~~~

Hi Doyle,
Thanks a lot for penning your opinions
& beautiful critical comments.Im happy to know & wish to learn a lot of new stuff in photography & for sure with pointers & suggestions like these will help enhance my work.

I'll keep in mind & try capturing some off-centered shots next with florals.
I felt the black background is common. No doubt, its striking & my favourite colour too..so ive attached the same..have a look..at the difference.

Please feel free to critically analyse my images.

Regards,
Jennifer

God shot Jennifer, but I think Doyle has a point there with the framing. I too think that a black frame let the flower pop out of it, and makes the whole photo stronger, but as Doyle said, IMO.
Good details in this one.
Take care,

Klaas

Good shot Jen. Only suggestion is that a black/dark brown frame would have brought out the contrast better.

Brilliant colors though !! I LOVE colors !! :)

A wonderful shot Jennifer . . . with good details and rich, well saturated colors. A couple of points (in my opinion) which you may wish to consider:
.....First, while florals can work centered, on ocassion, I would recommend (and prefer) an off-center composition. It just seems more dynamic MOST of the time!
.....Second, I would frame with black and not orange . . . something which would really make the subject pop out at the viewer!
.....Third, keep in mind that these pointers are my opinion . . . they are something I think would give this VERY good shot even more impact. But have no doubt, this is a VERY good capture! Congratulations.

Hey Jen..!! This is good..!! Colors are good too..!! good detailing..!! Just a thought or two..

1. You could have put the center of the petals in abiding by the 1/3rd rule..!!

2. brightness could have been reduced a bit so as to make it more eye catching...!!

All in all good shot..!!!

Rgds,
Deb
