I definately feel that this one looks a great deal better than the wider view version of the same scene. In this one you can see the green on the form, as well as a lot more detail. The orange in this case stands out well, but not too much.
I can understand where the wide angle would be perfered for your "Alternate Path" picture, however I think the path itself is enough, without the distant form.
But back to this picture, great work. Again, colors and focus is great. I would have suggested that perhaps a closer view of the person would have made it more emotional, but at the same time you would sacrafice so much of the environment. That said, I think the composition was great. Definately fits the title. Good work.
