Thanks, Pat! I have no first hand experience with the Sigma. However, using a telephoto for closeups is one of my favourite ways to photograph. My working distance at 400mm is about 6-7 feet, for shots such as this. Further, if I attach my Canon 500D closup lens, then I get 1:1 at 400mm and a working distance of about 18 inches. With the VR on, I can reasonably hand hold. (I can recommend the 500D for your 200mmVR or your Sigma- it would work great! But you don't need it, you already have a 200mm macro.) Eb

Great floral Eb - Again those wonderful colour tones and sharp detail with low noise levels at 400 ISO. Only small critique is the cropping of the lower petal (personal taste). A great image nonetheless. Joggie

My favourite flower is lily, wonderful colourtones and well presented details. Absolutely great floral composition. Another great shot, well taken!

Nice contrast and composition. I do not think I have ever used my 80-400m Sigma to take close-ups similar to micros. Do you think the 80-400 Nikon is alot better?
