Thanks,Phil, they are banduras. These girls were part of a class celebrating the 60th annivarsary of VE day. Unfortunately I couldn't get them to smile.

Very interesting photo. Nice and colorful. What type of instruments are those, they look fairly complex with all of those strings? Is that called a "bandura" or something like that?
