Hi Dave, Breathtaking view, and a very well framed composition. The landscape / NP's of the US are fabulours, and having only skimmed a few, I've made up my mind to take the time to explore them more thoroughly, as soon as I have the time and money to do so...:)

The softness in this photo is rather strange, at f/32 the DoF should be wide enough to get everything in focus, yet the trees in front seem to be nice and sharp, but Snowdon Peak looks rather soft, any idea why? I presume you used a tripod?

As to the tones, I think the photo is pretty well exposed, but I feel it could use a minor tweak in it's balance, to make the mountain and tree covered slopes stand out more prominently. That's about all I can think of that could possibly improve this photo. Very well captured, and an amazing scene.

Cheers,

Hugo

I am currently negotiating with Lori to do all my frames from now on. I just plain suck at them.

I am not happy with my shots on this day (including this one). Working with my new Canon 30D apparently requires a learning curve. I thought it would be just like the 300D but I was wrong. Most of my shots came out way too dark. Apparently, I had changed some settings that were not in my best interests. Back to the drawing board.

Thanks for the critique! Always appreciated.

Dave

LOL....I'll pass on the 8 hours of standing in the sun......or anywhere for that matter!

Send the photos, I'll be happy to do some frames.

I have no problem inviting you as long as you are willing to stand out in a highway for 8 hours in the sun. We were up here working and both my daughter and I are sunburned to a crisp.

Pack your bags, I have to go back in 2 weeks. (can you do a few frames for me during the trip/)

I guess you ARE in Colorado! That's one place I'd like to visit. (how come you didn't invite me along??)

This is really a nice scenic. And still snow!
Good presentation also!! (perhaps just a little less grain........)

Have a good one,
Lori :)

A beautiful and well composed shot, Dave! The tree on the left frames the mountain very well. I'm wondering if you could bring out a little more detail in the mountains with highlights. I like the frame, but not necessarily with this shot. I think it detracts from the beauty of the scene just a bit. This is a beautiful, classic landscape shot!
