This is a good shot Christopher, very well exposed.
Personally I'm not sure about the blue tones that you have used. To me it gives a unhappy, cold, lonely feel to a very beautiful image. It could be better with more yellow/natural skin tones.
I dont belive in rules when it comes to photography :-) but I think I agree if you shot from a lower view point with the horizon at his waist this could be a stronger image.

i think this is a very well taken picture and was cropped well..quite different actually. dont try to make your photos look like "the professionals". youve created your own style here and i love it..i love the expanse and this blue tone. awesome
