Great shot, Nick. I dont know why, but when I see this it reminds me of an Arcimboldo ox drinking.

Thank you so much, Giuseppe!
Well, it could be that they improve in quality, since I bought a new scanner that is miles ahaid from my old one. And the scanning software is also great!
Still I have to learn much though, but it is so exciting! Really exciting!
Ciao and best wishes, Nick

On the bright side indeed, Hugo! I was in the city, thinking about why we plant nice flowers and why we make gardens. It seems, just for the fun of it! Just for calming down and getting peaceful from the inside. And so these thoughts influenced the photos, I guess.
Thank you very very much for the great comment!
Cheers, Nick

Beautiful spot of vivid colour in a very natural scene (I feel to be there!). Nick it seems to me that your dowloads are improuved in quality. Ciao.

Hi Nick,
A bit on the bright side, but a very pleasant and appealing view. Well captured too. I like the touch of red in it, it grabs the viewers attention perfectly.
The feel of this image is beautiful, very calm, peaceful and admirable. I think that's the strenght of this photo. Well captured!
Cheers,
Hugo

Thanks a lot for the detailed critique, Doyle! This is the best way for me to learn and get better.
About the cropping on the right, well, it would be surely better, but unfortunately this was impossible. You see, at the right (outside the phopto) there are many buildings in the background, and they really distract - unless perhaps one manages to get them very very unsharp on the photo. I have to try that again.
The white thing is simply sunlight reflection on water, as you already concluded. I also don't like it very much the way it is, but I wouldn't like to leave it out. As the surface of the water moves steadily this reflection changes shape, and so sometimes it is nice for such a photo, but sometimes not. What might help here, would be to take a series of photos and see which reflection is better.
About the focus on the blossoms, yes, absolutely right. They should be a bit sharper. The problem here is that they move with the wind, and so one has to adjust a short exposition time, but then the available light has to be enough.
I think I'll retry that on a sunny day. Thanks a lot for the ideas and all your encouragement and advice!
Regards, Nick

Thank you Jim, for the nice comment.
If you should decide to spend some (photo-)days in good old Switzeria then you are very very welcome to visit me here. Goes for anybody else in this forum!
Thanks again, Nick

Nick: This is a lovely image and I like it but since you listed it as a CC image . . . here goes: While I think there is technical merit in the composition; lower third water, upper two thirds foliage . . . I think you missed a good chance to infuse some added dynamic compositional elements that would have dramatically increased the impact. For example, pulling the right-side crop farther out would have added yet another area of interest by isolating the foliage a tad. I like the rock for adding yet another textural influence into the composition, but the white item on the rock . . . whatever it is . . . is very distracting. If it's just sunlight . . . then I would definitely think about fixing the overexposed surface in post-editing. The water is clear and has some interesting patterns (and I know you know a thing or two about patterns in water!). The last thing I would suggest as a means of improving this is some sharper focus on the red blossoms. It's a wonderful capture Nick . . . as it stands. My comments are a personal opinion on how you could make it even better! :)
