Hi Hugo, and thanks for the detailed and nice critique.

First of all, indeed, the top edge subjects should be cropped off, since they are quite unrelated to the rest of the picture. Then, as you noticed, the absence of any size reference will be complete.

The image was taken from about 200m distance. It is the river Aare in Bern, and I shot it down from one very very high bridge. So the size of the structures is in the range of usual river shores.

Many thanks again!
Cheers,
Nick

Hi Nick,

I like this pattern of shapes and forms, and the combination between cool hues and warm tones is very nice. Maybe the compositoin, and specifically the subjects along the top edge could be reconsidered, and there might be a slightly more "abstract" approach, but I think that's besides the point here. Quite an appealing shot, and I think the absense of a reference to the size of these patterns creates the surprising element this photo needs. Looking closer, I think this is taken from quite a distance, and those structures are actually quite big....

Cheers,

Hugo

Indeed, and I wonde what a river would look like if we could film it during years and years and then play the film fast forward.

Many thanks for the great comment, Giuseppe!

Ciao!

For ever change (panta rei, specially in a river!). My favorite for today is this one not only for the imaginative shapes but even more for that beautiful contrast of lith and colour that split up the river.
Ciao Nick.

Giuseppe
