Este es un Halcon de cola roja del orden de los Falconiformes. Su nombre cientifico es Buteo jamaicensis.
Es una especie ampliamente distribuida en California.
Me atreveria a decir que es el halcon mas comun.
Su distribucion geografica abarca desde Alaska hasta Panama.
Ya los he visto comiendo desde ratas, serpientes, hasta patos y gaviotas.
Siempre que me encuentro uno reacciono como si fuera la primera vez que veo un cola roja.

Great details and composition. Any bird photo is worth when it captures the bird in their natural environment and in action with charasteristic specific to them. You have great DOF , details of bird, balanced tones and another important element for a successful bird/animal photography that the image is at eye level of the subject which gives a sense of communication with the subject. Great work here.
