Of this mini portfolio I prefer this picture. It's a splendid image and a very well done photo. The proof, for me, is that when I look at the reflections I feel the same things as in the real situation: hypnotic effect, thouths that get free, fixed eyes that I can't turn away. Beautiful also the many tones of lights and of the monocromatic colour.
Bellissima!
Buona Pasqua!

Giuseppe

Hi Rina!

Many many thanks for your great comment! Rina, if you take such photos then you can do two things for getting good results. The one is to use a polarisation filter, which diminishes reflections on the water surface, allowing the patterns from deeper parts to dominate the photo. I don't like this techique because the photos appear then like being on steroids - to my eyes at least. The other thing is to try to shoot as perpedicularly as possible over the water downwards and not at some other flat angle. Then you exceed the angle of total reflection and you siply see what is under the surface. Make a single spot metering at some of those light curves - they move steadily but with some exercise you will get that fine - and then holding the metering just compose and shoot. Of course it is not always possible to shot perpendicular downwards but bridges and piers are ideal for this.

I am glad that I was able to *see* in your work because this is respecting your work, and for me it is a small hint that my eyes are getting more "responsive" for photography.

And hey, you speak greek? Kalo Pascha for you too!

Best wishes,
Nick

A liquid mosaic... very very beautiful. I have taken a few of these, but none are nearly as good as what have captured here. I think it's one of those precious, hypnotic moments, when we are looking down at the light play through water, that we all struggle to capture as clear as we see it with our own eyes. Well done to you!

Cheers and thank you so much for your comments on my work and thank you for *seeing* :)

Kalo Pascha!
Rina.

Terrific capture, Nick, and very well composed. I almost feel as if I'm there watching the light playing in the water. Well done.
Best,
Steve
