Hugo, wanted to thank you for your wonderful and insightful critique. Unfortunatetly, given the light conditions as it was taken at around 6am, were not that great and I had to sacrifice some sharpness which is something I wish I could have improved. Just to give u a bit more insight into the picture, they were aware of me and my camera even though I was standing accross the courtyard and they hid their faces from me at all times except at this moment when he looked up to check if I was still there. thank you again for yr words
A very impressive group portrait. There are, IMO, two things that make this photo: 1) the spectacular lighting, which reminds me of 16th century paintings, and 2) the attire of those people. The natural materials and textures, as well as the stern and seriously looking people add to the drama in this photo, and are also very well captured, but play a slightly subsidiary role.
I think if you'd remove a part of the bottom of the photo, the overall composition could've been a bit stronger, but there's always something to say for showing the full frame version, which I think this is. Another thing is that I think the image quality is something that could be improved upon, as the face of the woman on the left seems a bit soft (movement with a relatively slow shutter?)
I think its great to see how the boy in front, with the brown cape seems to absorb all attention in this photo, mainly because he's the only one looking at the camera. The other two look subsidiary to him, as if they're his followers. A great story telling photo. Like this one a lot, very well captured!
