About This is a dried flower - the fresh one was posted...

Meant as a series of abstractions. I just loved the cream and red colors (colours?).

Excellent collage, Michael. Congrats on the Doner Image of The Day Award - it's much deserved. I love the smooth blurring that your lens made - great effect. I love this style of work. 7/7

To whomever awards these things, I think I probably owe a longer write up than the About...

Inspired by jude

We were gettting ready for a walk, and the Tulip I had bought was all dried out and crusty from where I had forgot about it after photographing... I'm lazy.

I took it down and put it by the window. I had just cleaned by CCD and lenses and wanted to see if I had any really big splotches. I took my macro lens and just started shooting relatively free-style, turning this way and that, kind of free associating colors and patterns.

After I got back and looked at some of the shots (which I had forgotten about) I liked the feel of the colors and patterns, so cropped a few down to interesting sections and posted this as an abstract composition.

If you really want to see the color, this image is in Adobe 1998 color, and you would have to open it in a program that shows that color space. It's really not that much different, but the reds are a bit deeper.

Lighting is all natural - sunlight coming in from outside next to a sliding glass window.

Low F-Stop, I think 1.4 and I used a 2X adapter. The lens is very old school. Manaul F and focus.
