Another wonderful B&W 'dune' shot!! Love the Yucca and it's shadow and those footprints are a neat touch/extra, great textures and view, excellent composition... well done Don!! BTW there are a few UFO's (dust spots) in the sky but the one in the middle is the darkest/most visible... ;-D (three on the left of the Yucca and one on the right side of the image very close to the edge). Hope they're not on your sensor but merely on the lens, hard to imagine how it could be/happen with all that sand around... LOL!!!

Hi John, I think those lines were created by the wind. It had rained very hard the day before this was t aken, as you can see the sand is not smooth as it usually is. There are all kinds of strange patterns out there in the sand. Some look like vehicles have made them but the are not allowed off the roads. If the wind blows much they have to open the roads like if they had snow on them. Great place for pictures. Thanks for the great comments . Don.

you are a lucky man to have time to photograph such a wonderful location. Great Job. I hope if I get to go there I can rent some great clouds! I keep wondering what is creating the lines in the lower right side. Spendid tones. Spendid sky. fjom (fine job old man) Cheers JB

This is really NICE, Don. Looks kind of like another world with that dark sky. I LIKE this image a lot. (I sure don't see a dust spot...LOL)
Wonderful time of day with those long shadows, fantastic contrast as well.
The yuccas are wonderful! Good work,
Lori :)

Hi Hugo, Thanks for the indepth comments. I have looked at the original of this and just can't find a dust spot. I almost took the footprints out of this scene. I don't think I could have used them in the composition as if I had turned to the right there was a big dune in shadow and would have lost the yucca. Have to try it again sometime. Thanks for all your very nice comments. Don.

Great use of texture and contrast Don. The sky grading into black from a grey horizon and the contrasting white dunes, breaked up by the paralel shadows are very striking. The kind of image that invites one to get there to see for one self. Great work. Joggie

Hi Don, very surreal feel you've created with the blacened sky (polariser?) The layout, leading the eye towards the hill in the distance is quite strong, but I'm not sure about the dark area in the lower left corner. The footsteps create a strong, yet subtle reference to the "real" world. Nice shot. Can't suppress the feeling you could've gotten more out of this, using the foot prints to lead the eye stronger through the image by choosing a different PoV.
A very minor thing, there seems to be a dust spot just below the clouds, right of the center line you may want to take care of...
Cheers,
Hugo
