She has that little glint in the eye that says, lets get this over with and get on with something else. Well done. Don.

Thank you Jay for the advice, I'm not to sure what you mean when you say, oil and water, If that means to place it on my wife hair? Well if that's the case, then you might as well bury me now.LOL And thank for the tip on the ILFORD.

I agree with Darrin in that it has a very 3D feel which, somehow is strange to me. Very 3D.... If I were you I would explore the idea of capturing abstract images based on her hair. The use of water, oil, etc. There is a great deal of potential, and she is somewhat of a captive subject, or are you?.....By the way, pick up some Ilford xp2 super c-41 B&W and create. Regards, J.

Thanks, Darrin,
is the NPH400 good for hight contrast? I like slide film, what you see is what you get back, no color change. I use print to see where i went wrong, 1 hour photo Lab only 3 blocks from where i live, I sit there and wait for them, only 15 min. The slide takes me 4 to 5 days to get back. Any way Darrin, i will visit B&H this week and try a few roles of each. Thank you once again.

Regards R.C.

Hi Ray, just noticed what film you use. If you enjoy portraits and want to stick with print film there are many others to choose from that will give you much better results. For example, Fuji NPH400 and Kodak VC400 (Ithink, it's been a while since I've used print!)

Thanks for your constructive comments as well. Darrin

Hi Lisa,
i did not set up any thing for this shot, the back ground was just a blank wall, I just wanted to test the flash, and asked my wife to pose, and she did because, she got her hair done. LOL. I'm in the same boat as you, hard to find a willing model. Even my dog Rock runs off when he see me with my camera's. And my son's I have to pay them. Oh well, all in the game. And thanks for your nice comments.

Ray:
I agree with Darrin -- we can see the love in her eyes for you -- what an amazing and sweet capture. And she is very beautiful. I think a different background would be something good to try in the future -- not that this one doesn't work. The background here matches the beautiful tone of her skin and her eyes, but contrast would also be interesting. Bet she just loves being a model for you (ha, ha). My husband is just about sick of it, but I've got a long way to go on learning how to do portraits, so he had better get used to it! :-)

You have two things beautiful here, the photo you captured, and your wife, try to take a shot of her with a little smile on her face, congratulation, very well done, good job Ray Charles...

Great portrait, almost feels 3D! You can tell she is close to you, there is that look in her eye and you have done a gtreat job capturing it.
