About When I took this Photo I imediately wondered.
Such a young girl just crying out for attention Good, Bad, or Indifferent.
What does the future hold for this child?
I purposely blured and played with it in Photoshop.
I thought it added to the overall drama
of the photo.

Yes, Very Sad, and very true Ivan.. There is always HOPE, that someone will intervene and stop the inevitable.

The future probably holds an abusive boyfriend/husband and a bunch of kids that will impair her chances of progressing in life...
Sad...

I agree the original is probably better but I can understand why you felt you needed to blur it.

Thanks for your critique Hugo. I agree with you that it would be in some ways stronger with out the photoshop effects.
Especially her face, but that is exactly what I was trying to hide.
I think you can still see a sad sullen attitude even with all the effects.

Hi Linda, Together with your message, I do think this is a strong photo, but I'm not sure the photoshop effects do justice to that message. At least to me, it doesn't increase the drama. Frankly, I'd say it achieves quite the opposite effect.

The composition is well balanced, and looking at the finesses in the photoshopped tones, the exposure also looks spot on. And, from judging that girl, so is the message. I'd like to see the original photo, the PS effect is just too heavy to actually see and interpret the expression on her face...

Cheers,

Hugo
