I understand what Wes is getting at, but I like the lighter shade of yellow up there - gives the photo more depth, which is essential to this atmosphere, I think.

Personally, i prefer the non-cropped version.... THIS baboon, is watching at the sunrise, isn't? well, i love the way it's surrounded by the light photography, for me, it's not only the way i crop a composition, but also the strenght i can transmit by a shot, and this one, remind me exactly what my father told me of Kruger.... and thanks to this shot, i can see the shine on my father's eyes... target achieved! sincerely Ciao Davide

Wonderful lighting and tones here, Shirley! A great shot, but I do lean toward the cropped version. Dave.

Hi Shirley, He is checking out to the right so the top doesn’t make much difference except it distracts to the eye. If you crop the top it gives much more focus on to your subject. Its something all photographers battle with, I like to take a picture without having to change much but sometimes you have to although it seems to go against what we think is to press the button and that’s it. It’s nice to stand back and listen to some advice although not all of it is good so look for yourself at the difference and how do you feel about it?

Thanks for your comment - I thought about that and then thought I'd be getting rid of the 'distance' in the shot. He really was just staring out into it. Taken at Olifants camp - high on top of the mountain. Lekker aand

Hi Shirley lovely capture I love the hi-lights on the babs head however crop the picture just below the tree line on the top and you will have a much more powerful picture try it and see it gives much more focus on the man. Nice capture though its these type of pictures that make our country attrictive. Wes
