Tough choice between the two, the color version is fantastic with the red lighting. If I were to pick one it would be this. I like how both walls takes the eye directly to the silhouetted figure & the inclusion of the street light adds to the abstract like composition. Wish image file size were bigger Jonathan but overall a superb image, thanks much for the kind comment to my image, regards.

remember, remember the fifth of November quote from V for Vendetta, reminded me a bit of that also.

The black and white give the feel you wanted, but this feels modern, in a really cool way.

Hi Jonathan, The B&W conversion sure is very successful here, not only in the tones, but also in the added mood and atmosphere. Definitely the feel of a classic horror movie, but with the "faceless" walls on either side this image also has a rather modern feel. You'd expect the walls to be the type of old English / Londoner scene, but the blank walls only make this photo stronger. It adds the element of surprise, which makes this photo tick. Very well captured.

Cheers,

Hugo

Brilliant idea Jonathan- very powerful and almost timeless in b&w. Like the colour one too- so strong and striking.

i really like this shot. i think you achieved your objective...my first thought, before reading your about, was "looks like an old horror movie" i really like the "light gradient" in the back. cool!
