About We finally got a day without rain...Yipeee! Denny and I went for a drive and stopped when we saw this (what else!) barn. This is located between two roads. The one on the left is called the Y Road, thus the name.

Kathy, This is so beautiful with the snow on the hillsides above the barn. It reminds me of a painting. I just read your bio and for a beginning photographer you are just tops! By the way thanks for your comment on my recent photo.

Another trademark shot, Kathy! The low angle on the foreground creates great perspective for the barn. Nice muted tones and fresh snow for the accent!

I am attracted to this image in several ways: the contrast between the snowed hills in the background (a relatively short distance away) against the grounds that surround the barn, the green pasture versus the greenish mossy face of the barn, and the tall leafy evergreen and the right versus the scraggly set on the left. A work of art Kathy.

Another superb shot, Kathy. I guess clear cuts are good for something after all. I love the tone of this one, and the subdued palette. Great!
Best,
Steve

Good composition, Kathy! I love the grasses in the foreground, they make a picture of their own, with texture and colours and those stick like tress added for accent. Next, the far left side view of the snow powdered mountains almost kissing the sky.And I like it that the sky is not blue, but moody. Well seen and well captured!

It's really fun to see what those settings will do, isn't it, Sheila? Thanks for playing around with this one! I like your look, too. I was going for the more subdued feel, but the brighter colors work also! Always feel free...I love it!

I love the little bit of blue sky in between the clouds! Let's hope that sunshine sticks around for a few days this time.

I've been playing around with the midtones, shadows and highlights like you showed me on one of my posts and I love what it does to my pictures. I thought I would play around with this photo just to see what it would do. I hope you like it! :)

The Y and the Y not maybe?? Another wonderful barn to add to your collection my dear Kathy. I love the pastel like soft colours and the tree edging the right. I thought the little dot was a mark on my screen until I moved the mouse:):) It is an old barn and looks in need of some TLC. The fact that it needs new tiles, a lick of paint etc adds to the charm and character of the shot. Well spotted and taken sweetie....Hope all is well with you, Susie and the CAFE..Best wishes.Ray

There is somthing very rustic and wonderful about old barns. Each one seems to have a personality of their own. I love the angle that you have taken here. The barn seems to fit right in with its environment, as if it was not man made but grew in that one spot. Wonderful colors and scenery.Nice job Kathy.

great shot!! What a "classic" barn shot (as in great lighting and composition). My only little "beef" is that little dot right in the clouds in the middle. But it doesn't take away from a wonderful shot. Cheers, Gary (o:

Hi Kathy, fantastic barn! (and all your barns are!) This is so moody, so perfectly placed in its environment with the grey snowy mountains behind, and the tree to the side. I love the low angle perspective showing the burned grass, the grass itself is an awesome color and has great texture. The green line running down the barn is beautiful, and the missing tiles. Great image, like a painting, couldn't ask for more! A favorite :) Ina
